    President's Report

    Dear Members and Friends,

I hope you are enjoying Good Friday and have a Happy Easter on Sunday.  Things have changed so much in the last several weeks in New Mexico and the US with the COVID-19 virus.  We all are working in different ways and doing what is necessary to help the businesses and organizations we work for move forward and provide support during these challenging times.  Just a reminder if you are needing any additional information or resources on COVID-19 please go to the SHRM website www.shrm.org.   They have lots of information, templates, reports and have put on several webinars with great information to help everyone navigate this difficult time.

I would like to “Thank” all of you for the great work you are doing in your organizations and businesses to help everyone through this pandemic.  Just to let you know that since we cancelled our monthly meeting, we are working on some webinars that we will send out to everyone to register for as soon as they are confirmed.  The Board is making a lot of progress and approved a new scholarship form and process that we will put on the website and send out to all our members. The board is working towards offering virtual meetings so that more of our members can attend our chapter meetings virtually.  We are in the process of purchasing the needed equipment and software to offer the virtual meetings.  This is something that we hope we will be able to start offering in the future.  We are looking at ways and things we can do that will benefit all or our members.  In the upcoming months we will be rolling out the nomination forms for the Kent Evans Award.

The NM State SHRM Conference that was to be held on April 20-21, 2020 at the Isleta Casino and Resort has been postponed at this time.  The NM State Council has worked hard on this conference and they are looking at future dates to make it happen.

I want to thank our board for all their help and ideas they bring to the table.  If you have any program ideas, speakers or suggestions, please feel free to email any of our board members or myself and let us know.  We are here for you and want to make Southern NM SHRM your organization.

Please remember that even though you may feel isolated and alone, you’re not.  We are all in this together!  With each other’s support we will make it through this pandemic and anything else that we are presented with as HR Professionals we are strong, determined, and supportive people that step up to any challenge.   Please be safe and have a  Happy Easter!
