Most businesses understand the importance of maintaining a diverse workforce, but what makes a workforce truly diverse.  Simply, displaying a poster in your reception area doesn’t count. Businesses need to define what diversity means in their organization and then develop and implement a diversity and inclusion program. Diversity and inclusion improves employee engagement, increases productivity, creativity, profits, attracts top talent, and decreases turnover.  Diversity just makes good business sense.

Gail has over 40 years’ experience planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of Human Resources. Prior to joining the City of Las Cruces as their EEO/ADA Coordinator in 2018, Gail spent 38 years with a non-profit in the role of Human Resources Manager and then Sr. VP of Administrative Services and 12 years teaching graduate and undergraduate courses for the University of Phoenix, Santa Teresa Campus.

Gail graduated from Troy University with honors where she received a Master of Science in Human Resources Management and a Bachelor of Applied Science.

Gail is an experienced public speaker providing presentations to Las Cruces businesses and organizations on a variety of topics including diversity, FMLA, collaboration,  personality and colors, hiring, coaching, harassment and discrimination.

Gail is a member of  National SHRM and Southern New Mexico SHRM (SNMSHRM). She has served on the SHRM NM State Council as Diversity Director and  SNMSHRM Board as President, Past President, ELU Committee member. She currently serves as SNMSHRM’s Diversity Director.

Gail was the 2015 Kent Evans Eagle Award recipient.  She has also been the recipient of two SNMSHRM Workplace Diversity Awards, SHRM NM Volunteer of the Year for SNMSHRM, and SHRM NM Most Passionate HR Professional.
